Basha Öberg is an artist from Malmö, Sweden and she is the artist behind the pattern collection Kvinnor i Krage. Despite designing patterns, a lot of her work involves deep research where she visits various historical archives to find inspiration.

The project started as a private endeavour where she designed and sewed shirts for her own use. During her project she studied different kinds of shirt collars which gave the name to the collection Kvinnor i Krage (women in collars)

“I wanted to take inspiration from what historical women have worn, and wear it myself everyday"

The project gave Öberg the possibility to elevate historical women in a new and modern way. When the collection was published online, it garnered interest from all around the world.

“People would come up to me and ask about my shirts, which opened conversations about historical women”

The positive response encouraged Öberg to design more patterns that honor historical women.
